Pizza Dough

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups all-purpose flour

  2. 2½ teaspoons instant yeast

  3. 1½ teaspoons sugar

  4. ¾ teaspoon salt

  5. 2 tablespoons olive oil

  6. ¾ cup warm water




Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5–10 minutes until it becomes frothy. This indicates that the yeast is active and ready to use.


Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Pour the yeast mixture it into the well along with the olive oil. Using a fork or your hands, gradually incorporate the flour into the wet ingredients until a dough begins to form.


Step 3

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead it for about 5–7 minutes, or until it is smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, sprinkle a little extra flour as needed.


Step 4

Place the kneaded dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.


Step 5

Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release any air bubbles. Transfer it to a floured surface and knead it out until you have a smooth dough. You can now shape it into a pizza and customize it with any toppings you would like.


Baking Instructions

Bake at 450° (230°C) for 13-15 minutes after poking holes in the rolled-out dough.
